May is Mental Health Awareness Month

There are many topics regarding mental health. This month will cover some of those topics and provide links for more information. We will start with the definition of each mental disorder and a list of the general symptoms associated with that disorder. All information provided is generalized and for informational uses only. It is not meant to diagnosis any mental health disorders mentioned in this blog. For any diagnosis please see a qualified physician who specializes in the disorder.

The first topic in our three part mental health mini series are anxiety disorders. The definition for Anxiety Disorders is listed below.

“Occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. You might feel anxious when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or making an important decision. But anxiety disorders involve more than temporary worry or fear. For a person with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time. The feelings can interfere with daily activities such as job performance, school work, and relationships. There are several different types of anxiety disorders. Examples include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder.”
